What Does a Family Resource Center Do?

The Tolland Family Resource Center, located at Birch Grove Primary School, is open to all Tolland Residents.

The staff is available to help with your search for childcare, preschool, before and after school care, as well as family resources such as child development, home visits, parent education, and playgroups.

Our School Age Care Program is located in both Tolland Elementary Schools. Students in grades 3-6 will be in the program at Tolland Intermediate School. Students in grades K-2 will be in the program at Birch Grove Primary School. For information regarding school age care before, after, kindergarten, or summer camp, please call the Tolland Family Resource Center 870-6750 extension 5.

The Family Resource center has a lending library located in the FRC preschool classroom. Our library has parenting resources, books, magazines, and videos. Please call the Family Resource Center for more information on borrowing materials.

You may call the Family Resource Center at any time Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

School Year Programs

During the school year, we offer a number of different programs for families with children birth through sixth grade. These include: Playgroups, PACT (Parent and Child Together Classes), Preschool, Parents as Teachers Home Visitation, Spanish Classes for children that attend Birch Grove.(kindergarten through 2nd grade)

The Family Resource Center offers a variety of programs for parents including: home visits, workshops, training courses, ESL and support groups.

TERAC-Tolland Early Readiness Advisory Council meets periodically to guide the work
of the Family Resource Center and all early childhood programs in Tolland.

Summer- Camp Hawk

The Tolland Family Resource Center School Age Care Program offers Summer Camp for children 5-12 years old. Children must be 5 by July 1, 2024. Each themed week is enriching and exciting for all students. Two field trips are planned weekly to correspond with themes.
